You need an active or trialing plan. Multi-party sends need at least one monthly envelope. Self sign is unlimited on public plans and does not use that quota. If any signer has Require Signyd Verify, you also need enough ID verification credits.

Step 1 — Upload

  1. Select + Document (Home or Documents) or go to /documents/new.
  2. Drag files or click to browse. You can upload one or more files into the same envelope.
  3. Allowed formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX.
  4. Your plan enforces limits on files per envelope, total pages, per-file size, and total envelope size. Any breach blocks the whole envelope before upload continues.
  5. Merge uploaded files into one PDF is on by default. Turn it off to keep source files separate for download; signers still see one continuous view.
  6. Drag to set page order when you upload multiple files.
  7. Word files convert to PDF in the browser. Do not close the tab during Uploading or Converting.
  8. Optional: Open templates and start from a saved layout.
Password-protected (open-encrypted) PDFs cannot be processed. Remove the open password and upload again.

Step 2 — Recipients (/documents/[id]/prepare, step 1)

  1. Add at least one signer with email, first name, and last name, or choose Self sign.
  2. Use + Add recipient, Add myself, Self sign, or pick a saved contact.
  3. Toggle Require Signyd Verify on any signer who must pass identity verification before the signing panel.
  4. Stay within your plan’s recipient max (Starter 10, Pro/Business 40, Scale 99, including CC).
  5. Continue.
If you started from a template, Signyd may require a minimum number of signers. See Prepare and send for self-sign details.

Step 3 — Fields (step 2)

  1. Select the recipient in the toolbar.
  2. Choose a field type and click the page to place it.
  3. Add at least one Signature or Initials field.
  4. Open Field settings to mark required/optional, validation, size, and allowed signature methods.
See Fields for every type.

Step 4 — Review and send (step 3)

  1. Confirm From, Send to, and optional CC (CC receives the final document only).
  2. Optional: Request signatures in order (sequential signing).
  3. Set Document language (English or Español). This controls emails, the signing legal notice, and the audit trail for this request.
  4. Edit Subject and Message.
  5. Optional: After signing redirect URL if your plan includes branding.
  6. Select Send document. Wait for Sending for signature…. Do not leave the page.

After send

  • If you added yourself as a signer, Signyd can open your signing link immediately.
  • Otherwise you land on the document detail page with recipient statuses and the signing links.

If send fails

A Buy envelopes or Signyd Verify overlay can open from the send flow.
