# Billing, plans, and envelopes

> Subscriptions, plan limits, add-ons, cards, and what each envelope means.

Routes:

* `/settings/billing` — owners and admins
* `/choose-plan` — required when there is no usable plan
* `/checkout` — pay or activate a free plan
* `/buy/[slug]` — public plan link (`starter`, `pro`, `business`, `scale`)

Tabs: **Billing**, **Plans & Addons**, **Cards**.

## Envelopes and credits

In the product UI, signing usage is shown as **envelopes**.

| - | - |
| **Envelope** | **1 envelope = 1 completed signing process** (multi-party send) |
| **Monthly envelopes** | Included with the active plan period |
| **Purchased envelopes** | Extra packs; usable **only with an active plan**; expire **90 days** after purchase |
| **Self-sign envelopes** | **Unlimited** on every public plan; do not use your monthly envelope quota |
| **ID verification credits** | Monthly + purchased packs; consumed when a new Verify session starts |

Out of monthly envelopes: upgrade the plan or buy a pack. Send blocks with a clear error and can open a purchase overlay (**Buy envelopes or Signyd Verify**).

## Public plans

Prices are in **USD**. The headline monthly price on [signyd.com/pricing](https://signyd.com/pricing) is the **annual** rate (billed yearly). Monthly billing costs more per month.

All public plans include PDF sealing with **AATL**, unlimited templates, and an audit trail.

Features labeled **unlimited** (Scale envelopes, self-sign, Scale storage, templates) follow the [Fair Use Policy](https://docs.signyd.com/legal/fair-use.md). Unlimited means no fixed published monthly cap for ordinary business use — not unrestricted platform capacity or a substitute for Enterprise volume.

## Storage and seats

Billing shows storage as **{used} of {limit}**. Your plan includes a storage quota. **Storage packs** and **extra seats** are add-ons you can add in **Plans & Addons**.

## Plans and add-ons

Open **Plans & Addons** or **Choose a plan** to see the current public plans, prices, trials, and extras. Typical extras:

* Envelope pack
* ID verification pack
* Extra seat
* Storage pack

You can switch **Monthly** or **Annual**, apply a coupon, upgrade, or downgrade from this tab.

**Starter** activates with **Activate plan**. No payment method is required.

## Billing tab

* Active plan and status
* **Cancel plan** at period end, or **Keep plan**
* **Manage billing in Stripe** (customer portal)
* **Recurring charges** and next charge date
* **Receipts** download

## Cards

Save up to **2** cards with Stripe. Mark a **Default**. Add, edit, or remove.

## Checkout

* Card payment for paid plans, USD
* Free Starter: email only, then **Activate plan**
* **Digital delivery** — plan and envelopes activate when payment confirms (or immediately for free)
* Coupon field
* Change plan / interval in the cart
* Taxes may apply

Fees are **not refundable**, except a confirmed duplicate charge. Canceling stops the next renewal; it does not prorate the current period. See [Payments and refunds](https://docs.signyd.com/legal/payments.md).
