# Account and security

> Profile, email change, MFA, and HIPAA workspaces.

Route: `/account` (every signed-in user)

## Profile

* Edit **name**
* Change **email** with a two-step code: confirm a code on the **current** address, then a code on the **new** address
* **Manage MFA**

## MFA (TOTP)

Route: `/account/mfa`

1. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app.
2. Enter a 6-digit code.
3. Store the backup codes.

If your organization uses HIPAA mode, MFA is **required** before opening documents or downloading signed PDFs. You are sent to `/account/mfa?reason=hipaa`.

## HIPAA organizations

If HIPAA mode is on for your workspace:

* Health information is protected at rest
* MFA is required for workspace users
* Signers confirm email before the signing panel
* Access events are recorded (views and downloads)

## Session

**Sign out** from the shell. Login is email OTP only (plus optional TOTP).
